About:
Sweeping the Ruins was created as a year-long school capstone project. It started out being developed in Unity, but we transitioned to Unreal Engine early in development to take advantage of its built-in blueprint systems. It proved to be a good opportunity to learn the art pipeline in Unreal Engine.
My Role:
As the art lead on Sweeping the Ruins, I helped conceptualize, establish and oversee the visuals as well as the overall look and feel of the game.
I collaborated with the director and producer to manage and delegate tasks to the artists on the team. I was also a 3D artist who worked on 3 characters and various prop/environmental assets such as the ballista, wrecking ball, ground, and walls. Through modeling, texturing, rigging, and animating the 2 protagonists from a 2D concept image, I learned . I also concepted and designed the game's Monster from scratch, and developed it from concept to a fully game-ready and animated character.
Additionally, I also utilized Unreal Engine's blueprints and created PBR materials to give the environment a look of stylized realism.
